I agree on the pittosporum...and should you look for them, the only place I've found them in one gallon size is Mission Hills Nursery in San Diego. I kept seeing them elsewhere, but always in 5 gallon.

Well wanted to let you know I just planted a Toyon in my back yard that my birds are going to love! I also bought a Marjorie Channon ( it was a tough choice between that and the Silver Sheen)for that spot where my neighbors can see in my window. I do already have some cannas there but they aren't that tall and won't be in the way for the pittosporum tenuifolium. What GREAT suggestions! Thank you!!

Hi,
I don't know if you have planted yet or not, but I would have the same problem except I have about 15-20 cherry trees planted. I let them grow like a hedge and they grow up to 30ft tall. Bloom in spring, have black berries, that the birds love and are evergreen.
Works for us. I will try to post some pictures for you.
