What is a garden myth you hear frequently which you know is untrue?
That you can treat your flowers like weeds, water them and they will grow. -
And, what is the reality?
Grams told me to care for your flowers. Water them yes, but give them occasional treats, depending on what kind of plant depended on what kind of treat she provided. She was big on coffee grounds. -
What is your favorite gardening outfit or costume?
What ever I have on at the time I start in, I don't have any gardening outfits. -
What is the one question about gardening you would really like people to ask you?
No particular question. I know more about koi ponds than I do flowers. But I do alright at growing them, if my hubby will keep away from them!! -
And what's the answer?
Depends on the topic. -
Who is your own favorite gardening personality on TV, radio or in print? Why?
I don't really have a fav. I research a lot and I only take certain ones really serious, the ones that can give a logical reason why, it may be something simple, or scientific. -
Do you have a gardening philosophy you would like to share with other gardeners? What is it?
When I try something new with my plants I keep a close eye on it. If it changes for the better in some way, I remember it. Nothing mind boggling. -
If you could grow only one plant, what would it be?
Lilacs, but I am glad I don't have to decide to grow only one plant! -
What plant have you tried to grow that has given you the most trouble? Or, what plant would you like to grow and can't, and why?
My butterfly bushes, I can't get them to grow because my hubby keeps killing them or mowing them. So, each time he kills any plants I have, mistake or otherwise, he has to let me get any I want. -
What is your favorite time in the garden?
Mid-afternoon. I like it be not to be too hot and not chilly. -
What is your favorite color in the garden?
That is a hard question....I guess green. It means your plants are alive and hopefully healthy. -
What is your favorite place or activity in the garden?
Enjoying them. -
What is your favorite public or private garden in the world? Why?
Mine. Because I can just walk outside to enjoy it, I did it myself and it is easiest to think there. -
What individual has influenced your gardening interest the most? How?
Grams. She raised me most of my life, she loved flowers and plants of all kinds, and she taught me to have respect for them and I could have ever-lasting beauty all around me. -
Gardening Dilemmas
There is not enough space. Biggest ones is animals in our community and keeps disrupting my areas and a hubby who pulls the "weeds" out to help. -
What do you dislike most about gardening?
That there is not more room to do more. -
What do you like most about gardening?
What is there not to like? You are one on one with nature, it brings beauty to your area, it attracts other forms of nature, I like most everything about it. It is relaxing and satisfying. -
Company/Organization
none. -
Favorite Nursery
I like to order form Spring Hill online. Their plants arrive green and healthy. I put them under a grow light for a couple weeks when I receive them soon enough to, then plant them. -
