I live in Encinitas California, north of San Diego and I planted a Passiflora edulis a couple of years ago (I don't remember the exact variety) but it began getting fruit the second year. It also became a nuisance because once it took hold it grew like crazy and was hard to keep under control. I ended up removing the plants.

Thanks Rich. I'm hoping mine does that well, I'd like it to cover an unsightly place in the yard. I'll be more patient about the fruit. Maybe next year. Thanks for taking the time to answer.

Also keep in mind that Passiflora lives for 7 to 10 years -- and then it is time for a new vine.
