belles of ireland cousin

Many years ago my huband's great-aunt had a plant that looked like the belles of ireland, but the calix was orange. I believe it was a shrub and not an annual. What is the name of this plant? Sorry, I have no picture of this plant.

Hard to say without more info or a better description, but some Euphorbias meet that description.

Thank you for response. I googled euphorbia and those plants seem to be of the cacti family. The belles of ireland cousin I am looking for looks just like the belles of ireland annual plant only the calix (what looks like the \"bloom\" of the plant next to the stem) is orange.

There are over several thousand euphorbia species from delicate looking groundcovers like euphorbia cyparissias to trees to cactus-like species like crown of thorns and so although my guess was a wild one, I still don't rule it out.

Euphorbia grifithii 'fireglow', for example, is shrublike with brightly colored bracts.
