I love both of these,but don't know what they are. The Mexican gardeners use cutoff bottoms of 5 gal. and 2 liter bottles for planters. Some are painted. They are very resourceful people and do a lot with little money.

Hi sunny1,
I'm pretty sure the plant in the photo is Huperzia phlegmaria.
There is a synonym; Lycopodium phlegmaria.
This is a type of FERN, however does not look like most ferns we normally think about.

They are from some of the islands near the equater. (Madagasgar and others) These ferns are rare here in San Diego (So. Calif. for that matter) which makes them kind of expensive. You can 'google images' those names see if they match what you have. There is also a wikipedia entry for them.
