how to keep skunks away from my seedlings?

Cozette asked this question in the Mulch Chatter. Sometimes I really get mad at our stinky little friends but they also do beneficial things in my garden, so we have a truce.

Skunks hate chicken wire. When a skunk first learns about chicken wire, you will know from the smell.

For a row of seedlings, consider a long upside-down V shaped tent made of chicken wire. A two-foot high roll of chicken wire should be sufficient, along with a few stakes and a rod for horizontal support.

Tell the striped kitties I said hi and to behave.
