Sap

Hi,

I just noticed today that there is blood red sap oozing out of our Tipuana Tipu all up and down the trunk and some of the thicker branches. I read on the internet, if it is bruised or cut, it will ooze sap, but nothing that I aware of has made a million tiny cuts on the tree.......there are also a lot of ants crawling on it. It's a fairly young tree (15'-20' Dia. Canopy) that was neglected until we bought the property. Now, I do a deep soaking once a week.

Also, we have an indoor houseplant, Aralia 'Fabian' Stump that lost all it's leaves (they went limp) on one of the stumps and then started oozing out a couple of areas of brown sap. The other two stumps look perfectly happy. They are attached at the base though, so it would not look good to cut the one stump off.

Any thoughts on either of these? If images are helpful, I can send later.
