Stepping Stones For a Path

I'm going to be putting in a path through a garden area this Spring. Any suggestions as to what medium is best? It will not be a "high traffic" area, but will lead through a garden to a bench and to a water feature. I've debated with putting in stepping stones and with putting in a stone / pebble path. I'm thinking that I really don't want to put in a stone / pebble path because I'd like the path to really blend into the green of the garden. I'm thinking slate or stepping stones would blend well. Any pointers on how best to lay this path? Thanks!!

I don't know but if you are like me you are looking for natural..?
Have you considered just a natural shredded bark path?
Granted it will take a bit of maintenance, however, anything you don't appreciate can be donated to the compost bin..
