my husband gave me a potted plant of hyacinths for spring and the blooms are starting to dry up and I want to plant them outside but should I wait untill Fall and if so how should I take care of them untill then. I live in Virginia

I'm no expert on Hyacinthus, but I would definately plant them now if you want them in the ground. You want them to become established (ie. grow roots) before they go through the "shock" of the winter. Plant so that the tip of the bulb is just barely peeking through the surface. Like I said, I'm no expert on this one, but that's what I would do.
