Irrigation Suggestions

I am really debating on what kind of irrigation to put in my veggie garden. My soil is very sandy, and rocky. I've amended with compost, but the water still drains fast. I'm leaning towards drip, but I'm concerned it won't wick horizontally very well. Any great ideas or suggestions?

When soils are too sandy, they need to be amended with a planting mix that contains peat. Get a few of the large green bags of Sunshine planting mix and work it in.
For vegetable garden irrigation, I like to use the 5/8\" soaker hose sold in most garden shops. Currently, you can find 50 foot rolls for $10. Just snake it through your planting bed. If it will be too long, also buy one of those hose repair couplings so you can splice out a section and put the end back on.
Now if you are a real maniac like me, you will buy a hose repair coupling for a FEMALE end, so that your soaker has two female ends! Then attach that to a \"Y\" connector on the water source. You will have equal pressure throughout the soaker hose.
Feed your fruiting vegetables GroPower 3-12-12 Flower & Bloom, one cup per month to start and larger plants (Tomatos) a pint per month there-after.
Happy veggies!
