Compost Bin Wood Choice

Hi All,
I need to build a compost bin. Does anyone have recommendation as to the type of wood I should use? The compost would be used for all types of plants and vegetables. Is pressure treated lumber or similar lumber for outdoor construction not safe to compost for vegetable gardens? Sorry if this is a silly or paranoid question, but I am very new at this.

I would just use 'wood'. What ever wood you have. If you have to buy wood, get the cheapest. It does not have to be fancy. If you want to truly be 'organic' I would NOT use pressure treated wood, it 'may' ad chemicals to the compost. Personally I don't think much would ooze out, but who knows?. Why have a compost bin that will out last you anyway? For me it would be cedar, it is inexpensive and easy to work with. If you want to make it really inexpensive use old wooden pallets. In most areas you can find some fairly decent used ones. Maybe a board broke here or there. I see them all the time, usually left out in some industrial areas, or behind businesses. They are about the right size 'about' 4' x 4' usually, you may have to get a few and take some apart to ad to the spaces of the 'best' ones, but this is really cheap and fairly easy easy, if you have a way to haul them.

I think your best choice would be cedar or redwood if you are set on using wood for your bin. Under no circumstances would I use pressure treated lumber that was treated with CCA even though it is outlawed it is still available as used lumber and existing stock. The arsenic will leach out of the wood.

The new treated lumber has high levels of copper which is what preserves the wood. Not enough research is available yet on long term effects. I would be cautious.
