Angel's Trumpet

I love my Angel's Trumpet hovering over my fairy garden. It has had nice green leaves all winter, and now I finally have beautiful trumpet blooms, and the leaves are all yucky. Bummer in the summer! Any ideas on how to help?...

I'm no Brugmansia expert, but that looks like a virus to me. You may have to replace the plant if you can. Before planting the next one though, best thing to do would be to replace as much soil as possible in that particular area and then hope for the best.

I think you are right, it might be time to go. But first, may I try feeding/fertilizing it one more time?...??? any recommendations along those lines? I keep pulling off the ugly leaves, and there are still continuous new blooms. I really think it may be struggling to stay...

Angel's Trumpet are very pretty plants (when they are doing well). They also grow quite fast this time of the year. One of mine has put on 4' of growth in the last 4 months.
A couple of things you might check, be sure it is not getting dry, they like moist soil. (THIS IS EXTRA IMPORTANT IF THE PLANT IS IN A CONTAINER) Becasue I can't see 'all' of the leaves it is kind of difficult, but if the plant is in the full sun, maybe it got a little dry, the upper leaves could show a 'burn' where the leaves are lower, and more protected might not be so bad. You should look at the lower more protected leaves, if they look 'ok' or better, I would suspect maybe the plant did not have enough water on some of those days when we were getting 90 to 100 degrees of temps, it was unusually hot early on. If this is the case feeding and making sure the soil is MOIST migh do the trick. You should see a difference in just a couple of weeks. IF it is in a container, maybe put it in a new, larger one, that would help too. They need room for the roots to spread and grow. They like 'rich' soil high in orgainc material. They are usually quite easy to grow, unless something is way out of whack.
If that fails and all of the leaves look like those in the photo you could take a branch to the AG department and have them take a look at them. But be sure to take a good sample, as large as you, can without compromising the integrity of the plant, with in reason. 20" or so with many leaves as an example. There is no charge for this service. forgot to mention, yes take off the worst leaves, they are not doing much to nurish the plant, and it will look some better without them. ALSO the plant may send out new leaves where the old ones were that you removed. Somtimes this can encourge new gowth too.

I will do that. I have removed most of the ugly leaves, there is some new green growth coming in. I will continue to remove all of them and check the moisture. It is not in a pot, so maybe I have some hope.

P.S. I like the way you said that they were easy to grow! HUH! this one has been so difficult for me! No worries though I am committed to its survival!
