anybodoy know a goodsprayer?

I have bought two Gilmore sprayers and one Hudson sprayer and none of them are working. Please don't tell me to clean them out. I use warm water and a drop of detergetn to clelan them out as soon as I get through trying to use them.

On the Hudson apparently there was a leak that made it impossible to hold the pressure.

On the Gilmore one with batteries the tube attached to the top was stiff and stuck into one of the wells at the bottom. When I tried to tighten the top to seal it, the rotation also rotated the tube and since it was in a well it would rub against the side of the well and fall out. I finally got it to work after many tries. Then where the rubber wand hooked on to the top of lid the pressure would know it off. I finally got it to work by using good old electrician's tape to hold it on. So after about an hour of fussing with this brand new sprayer I was sailing along. My wife' roses would get dormant sprayed before spring arrived. But then to my dismay it plugged up, I got a needle to try to put in the hole. In the process I stabbed myself several times. Finally, with blood running down my arm it srarted spraying again but only a little stream. If I were a doctor I would have said it had an enlarged prostate. I tried using it with the little tiny spray but it would have taken me until summer to get all of my wife's roses done. So I gave up and took it back to Dixieline and they gave me my money back and sold me some band aids.

My question, is there a sprayer that works? Or should I get a windex bottle and use good old hand power or maybe splurge and get an electric one with the power of a Ford Truck. Any suggestions would be appreciated?

I hate the Gilmore sprayers. The hose-end attached Ortho sprayer is great. You do need to run water through it after each use.

I have a one gallon RL Flomaster which really seems to work well. It also has a five year warranty.

I have owned two Hudson sprayers for at least 10 years and they both work well but they require periodic maintenance. If you still have the Hudson that won't hold pressure try removing and dismantling the pump mechanism - the top screws off and the plunger can be removed. Clean the plunger, shaft, and tube thoroughly - removing dirt, rubber shavings, etc. Coat the rubber cup at the bottom of the plunger with Vaseline and reassemble the pump mechanism. Next, look at the bottom of the pump mechanism. There should be a rubber "button" at the bottom on the outside of the tube. This is a valve that allows air to be pumped into the tank but prevents it from leaking back out. Pull the button out of the bottom -- you may have to pry it out with a screwdriver but do it carefully so the rubber isn't scratched or cracked in the process. Clean the rubber button thoroughly and pop it back into the bottom of the pump. The sprayer should now hold pressure.

Spray problems can usually be solved by pumping the tank up to operating pressure, unscrewing the nozzle, and running a piece of wire or similar device through the holes in the end of the wand while squeezing the trigger.

Thanks to all for the sprayer help. I started cleaning and repairing as suggested but when it still didn't work I bought a new one from Ace Hardware which is working fine. Thanks to all for your suggestions and especailly to GardenGuy
