;) OK,, So it's has been a LONG. cold winter. Am building a growing room in the basement. we have Hydronic heat in the floors of the house. would it work to use 2x4's for frame stand. then make a wood 2x4 4 side box. that would be fastened on the stand. drill 2 holes on one side of the box. run the hydronic pex tube in one hole make the loop around box out the 2nd hole secure pex tube on the sides of the box. and splice into hydronic house heat. then use drywall to cover bottom of 2x4 box. fill with batting insolation and set metal shelves on that box. I could make a 3 tear stand. then hang lights on antique pulley system.... It would be a permeant fixture. suggestions recommendations??
I live In MN and the basement is around 60 degrees.
(and if you think this is a wild idea. try an figure out how a garbage disposal and hydraulic press will be used to make wine)

If the basement temperature doesn't drop below 60 degrees, then there is no need to make an enclosure. Your main concern will be insultating everything from the floor and basement walls, which wick heat away from everything that touches them. I like your idea of constructing a raised floor from 2 x 4's. I'd lay some inexpensive insulation inside it - the kind sold in rolls. I would NOT use metal shelving or anything else made of metal except possibly the overhead light fixture. Cool metal will also drain heat away from whatever touches it.

Cheers,
Richard Frost
