cymbidium orchids won't bloom

I have my cymbidium orchids in CORE coconut fiber, I've tried soil and have not had any results. The coconut fiber doesn't seem to work for me either. I live in Poway, and I see cymbidium plants blooming and the people say they don't do anything to them. What am I doing wrong. I used the orchid fertilizer too.

Hi susiewinters - can you tell me how much sun they get, and when was the last time you separated them or re-potted them into a larger container?

The orchids are in little pots, I repotted them last year in that coconut fiber, no soil, I had them in a little morning sun, then I moved them to another part of the garden which doesn't get much sun, they grow nice leaves, but no orchids. Not sure if I water too much, not enough, kinda perplexed. I'm here in Poway. Should I put them all in one container, they're only little plants.

It sounds like your orchids probably need more a little more sun

Relating to Core, which is from Coconut Husks. There are two kinds, one is chunky the other is ground, almost looks like Peat Moss. DON'T USE the finely ground one use the CHUKNY one. Also there is so much missing to the puzzle. "little pots" what does that mean? 3" or 4" or could be 6" too, that might be small for Cymbidium Orchids. Small plants usually don't bloom, you have to grow them into plants with many divisions and maybe even back bulbs to get a plant large enough to bloom. At least one gallon size, two gallon size (filling half the pot) even better. Ideally in Poway they should get bright filtered light for most of the day, 63% shade cloth would probably be ideal. Too much shade, they won't bloom. "I used orchid fertilizer too", which one? How often do you apply, there are many different fertilizers, liquid, granule, tablets, slow release, etc. Also different formulas as to Nitrogen Phosphorus and Potash. If you could give more details it would help a lot. How often do you water, and how much do you apply? Many unknowns we can't respond to.
