Moreveggiesplz14,

That's a very good observation. I have done a bit of research on pollinator's in my area. Obviously not enough either - I have so many questions...
Mostly I'm pretty sure that I have Carpenter bee's, and perhaps a few mason bees (I'm still not sure on this one...) and very few honey bees. That was when I discovered that my true problem was due to lack of pollination.

I came across a website on the web that was into observing the number of honey bees in your yard. They were using 'Lemon queen' sunflowers if I remember right and you had to take a count of how many bees visited the flowers in a certain time period. Well I had grown sunflowers although they were not that specific variety. The weird thing is I took time out of my day several days in a row at different times like was suggested. The simple fact was I rarely saw bees of any kind in the yard. That was when the whole thing started dawning on me... kind of like a wake up call...

I am now looking into the Carpenter bee's, and Mason bee's natural habitat and trying to put something together in my area that will encourage them to nest as well. Or at least be able to over winter here. Since I see more of them now and rarely do honey bee's visit. I have observed a few more this last year when I grew the borage plant than I have ever seen in the past years.

So many things to do and so little time is most of my problem. So that's why I throw odd ball questions out there now and again to gather other peoples thoughts on these questions too.. if that makes any sense.

By the way what zone are you now in? I'm just curious..
