Plants for clay soil

I'm trying to compile a list of plants that grow (& thrive) in heavy clay soil. Does anyone know of an existing list? Or have favorites that survive/grow/thrive in clay soil? Many of my clients want low maintenance (i.e., neglect or have a professional maintenance crew to trim) & won't (or will forget to) mulch with compost that would improve their soil. Thus, the need for the "clay-proof" list.

Guaras and dymondia seem to love it.

I've had good luck with Salvia Guaranitica. VA and AZ. LOTS of clay.

Thank you - Dymondia is a new one, too tender for Oregon, but I'll add it - hope to share my list with people from all over. Seems like tap-rooted perennials may be more tolerant of clay. Thoughts on that??

Thank you - I'll add it to the list. Sunset Garden book lists it as too tender for Willamette Valley here in Oregon. Did it act as a perennial in VA?

We moved to a new house before it was completely grown, but it did come back in VA. It was mulched and in a somewhat protected area.

Another perennial in VA is Agastache urticifolia. It was coming back in full force by late March.
