shrub recommendation for difficult site

I live in zone 21 in San Diego and have a bed that faces NW mostly underneath a roof overhang. This means mostly shade during the winter months and intense sun during the summer. I'm looking for some shrubs around 3 feet tall which can take this difficult siting. Thanks, Nancita

Indian Hawthorne
Camellia japonica some reds & deep pinks
Camellia sasanqua
Azalea Southern Indica especilly Red Bird & Alaska
Dieties, Morea Iris
Aralia japonica
Aralia elegantissima
Philodendron Xanadu
Meleanthus major
Phoenix roblini
Fuchsia "Gartenmeister"

These are all some that should work in a sun-shade situation. For sure there are more, this is just a start
