What raspberries produce in your area (worldwide)?

Raspberries are popular worldwide! But many varieties require a lot of winter chill, while others produce just fine in subtropical climates. In the Midwest they call these *less hardy* because the chill can kill them; see www.inberry.com/raspbprodc.html .

Which varieties are producing in your garden -- and which are not?

If you can, please give the chill hours where they are growing -- or perhaps there is a producing fruit tree nearby that can give us a hint?

I live on the coast in San Diego, but sort of in a little depression along the top of a hill, and lately I think I get more chill than others around town. I think the cold drains into my yard and sits there. This may sound crazy, but I LOVE IT - because I've been able to have success with trees and fruits which are in the 300 -500 chill hour range, while people two blocks away can't get away with anything over 300 hours. I've been growing Canby Red for the last three years and they've been nicely productive, not gangbusters, but definitely worth the space in my garden.
After reading Richard Frosts' post about harvesting a gallon of Baba berries in December I went out and bought two bare root, and I also bought two 'September' everbearing. We'll see how they work!
What could be better than a fresh raspberry (besides a perfectly ripe apricot, or maybe a tree ripened 'Snow Queen' Nectarine!
