Already thinking ahead to January and would like to put in an apricot tree. I live in Rancho Bernardo, zone 21 and would like to plant a Blenheim but don't know if it gets enough chill hours here for it. If not, are there any other tasty alternatives? Thanks, Nancita

Two years ago I planted a "Earli Autumn" from Dave Wilson nursery - with the same link as above www.davewilson.com/br40/br40_trees/apricots.html .

It says it needs 500 chill hours, and I live close to the coast in Point Loma and I got a bunch of fantastic fruit this year. So I'm almost positive it would work in RB. The reason I purchased "Earli Autumn" in the first place was to try a low chill variety that would also be late season. I already have a goldkist - which is supposed to be really low chill, and seems to do great in my yard (i would recommend it too). But Goldkist is early, early season, actually it's always ready to eat on father's day (so it's a nice little father's day present)!

My family said they actually like the "Earli Autumn" flavor over goldkist, but both are fantastic.
