sweet potatoes

I wanted to try to raise sweet potatoes in my vegetable garden. I saw that both Gurney's and Territorial Seed had the plants available. In both cases though they said they were unable to ship to California without explaining why. What are my options?

try this place - it looks like they're certified to send their "slips" to California. I've don't know anything about the company but i was thinking about your question and i found this place

Thanks for the help. I have looked at the website and am going to order some slips as soon as I figure which of the hugh number of varieties I want.
