General Information

A strikingly handsome summer-blooming perennial corm. It is related to gladiolas & is a member of the iris family. Crocosmia needs good drainage to prevent bulb rot, and will thrive in rich, sandy loam. It needs full sun, but will tolerate some lighter shade, especially in the southern areas. Crocosmia will become quite drought tolerant after about a year's establishment, but a little summer watering and taking flowers stalks in for vases will ensure continuous bloom. Crocosmia will self-seed, and spreads rapidly, so care must be taken as to placement. Solfatare has rich, bronze swords, and a lush buttery yellow flower, a real show stopper!
