General Information
Long-lived deciduous shrub or small tree that is native to China. (Leaves and bracts are larger than its cousin from Japan and Korea.) Grows naturally as a shrub, or you can train it as a small tree that will reach 20 feet tall. Features a vase-shaped, spreading horizontal growth habit. In late spring or early summer, blooms with slender, creamy white bracts edged in pink. Red fruits resembling raspberries cover the plant in late summer or fall at which time the leaves turn yellow and scarlet.
