This is a large evergreen shrub or small tree. Older plants grow as wide as tall and develop a vase shape with several main trunks typically originating close to the ground. 'Goshiki Tricolor' has holly-like, glossy, dark green, white and pink leaves and clusters of fragrant tubular white flowers. The lustrous, dark-green leaves have paler undersides and are joined in the fall by a multitude of barely-noticeable, but extremely fragrant, white blossoms. They perfume a large area of the landscape. Usually grows to 6 ft high by 6 ft wide. Flowers September to November. Fruits November. Commonly used as a border specimen.
