The fig is a tropical looking tree or shrub with a dramatic spreading habit. The breadth is often wider than the height. The bark is a smooth, silvery gray with long deciduous leaves have 3 or 5 lobes. 'Black Mission' is a large tree, has black purple skin with sweet pink flesh, is widely adapted, popular in California.
Figs may bear fruit from two to four years from planted cuttings.
