A small tree or shrub vigorously growing with olive green to dark green foliage. The leaves are compound with 16 to 32 leaflets and showy bright green blosoms.
Stems are smelly when broken. Popcorn Cassia is not native to Southern California but has naturalized in disturbed areas. Some have suggested it is mildly invasive.
