The Lavenders - Lavandula are a genus of about 25-30 species of flowering plants in the mint family. The genus includes annuals, herbaceous plants, subshrubs, and small shrubs. The foliage is opposite or whorled, usually entire, linear or lanceolate, white tomentose, square stems, and aromatic. The flowers are lavender, purple or white or pink, ¼-½" long in groups of 6-10 on spikes in midsummer and aromatic.
