This is a group of succulent plants that generally do not have leaves. Instead they are modified stems in the shape of cylinders, pads or joints that usually have spines. The modified stems hold water and help the plant survive severe drought. Generally the flowers large and very brightly colored. Often the fruit is colorful and sometimes edible.
This group of plants has a very wide range and it is best to know the type of cactus before trying understand specific care.
