  • What is a garden myth you hear frequently which you know is untrue?
    ?
  • What is your favorite gardening outfit or costume?
Don't have any, just stuff that is washable and stretchy
  • What is the one question about gardening you would really like people to ask you?
None now, I am too much of a novice.
  • Who is your own favorite gardening personality on TV, radio or in print? Why?
I read the San Diego Union Tribune Garden Page, Dick something. The page is brief, tuned in to our climate and gives me ideas.
  • Do you have a gardening philosophy you would like to share with other gardeners? What is it?
Not yet, although when I was in my early teens, I think my vegetable garden was very theraputic and helped me with the emotions of adolescence: worries about popularity etc.
  • If you could grow only one plant, what would it be?
    Roses
  • What plant have you tried to grow that has given you the most trouble? Or, what plant would you like to grow and can't, and why?
Hybiscus, covered in white flies could never get rid of them.
  • What is your favorite time in the garden?
    Early summer
  • What is your favorite color in the garden?
    Purples and lavenders
  • What is your favorite place or activity in the garden?
Planting seeds and watching them grow.
  • What is your favorite public or private garden in the world? Why?
I wasn't too impressed with the Butchard Gardens (might have been the wrong time of year), but I wish I had more time in the Montreal Gardens
  • What individual has influenced your gardening interest the most? How?
I have neighbors who are master gardeners, but really I enjoy looking at beautiful inspiring pictures in Sunset, Home and Garden etc. I also admire vegetable gardeners.
  • Gardening Dilemmas
1.I have a survivor's garden. Plants that my husband has rescued at work from the trash. I plant them, rather than put them in the house, and if they live with weekly watering, then so be it. I frequently plant things from his rescues I know will die outdoors, but I don't want the extra house work.
    2. I have a dog with no respect for where he does his business, I would like a vegetable garden, but don't think it would be too sanitary...
  • What do you dislike most about gardening?
It requires constant care to be a good garden, and I am over committed now so it is a future passion to pursue more when I retire
  • What do you like most about gardening?
It is rewarding, I enjoy seeing new things grow, working with my hands
