  • My 5 favorite plants are
    Black bird Asiatic, Lilacs, Trycirtis Empress, All Gladiolas, & whatever I can grow! Eupatorium from seed was tremendously sucessful, grew beautifully this summer.

    It cost too much to have a beautiful garden.

    If you look for the deals, and talk to people you will be surprised at what you might find!

    How to save money when gardening.
  • And what's the answer?
    Talk to your local grocers for broken bags of soil, compost, and always find damaged plants and ask managers for a discount( I have found most of my luck in grocerie stores). The larger nurseries wont give discounts as freely because they can take the plant and regrow it.

  • Do you have a gardening philosophy you would like to share with other gardeners? What is it?
    If you like it, try to grow it. Dont be afraid to try growing from seed, last winter was my first try and it was the most colorful winter I have ever had! And with watching the groth, not the snow the winter was over so fast.

    My lilies are satisfying
  • What plant have you tried to grow that has given you the most trouble? Or, what plant would you like to grow and can't, and why?
    I would like to try orchids in the garden, I dont think they can survive the cold winters here. I did read about one ladyslipper orchid that is good to zone 5, I am going to try and find it in the spring.

    First thing in the morning, just as the sun is coming up.

    All things purple. I have a strange secret obsession with white..... Though I rarely admit it

    My whole garden is my current fav. The previous owners did not do any gardening, so I have a clean slate!!

    Wayside is gorgeous!!

    My mother, every year for mothers day and her birthday we would go to the garden center , pick flowers. Plant and pick everymorning for the rest of the summer. Pinching pansies...
  • Gardening Dilemmas
    I built 9 ft flower beds in front of my new home one on either side of the front door, not having a lot of money, I filled them with top soil. Needless to say everything died in the flower beds. The dirt molded, smelled like rotten eggs if I dug down at all. It gets afternoon sun, 1pm & on. SOOO, I planted my lilies there, they never die, and after ten years(Previous growth), I have plenty...

    Trying to conquer bugs, molds, and disease.

    Trial and error, basically the learning and obsorbtion of new info. and plants. Watching my kids learn about plants and bugs in the garden. Watching my 2yr. old pick my flowers, and present them to me with delight and awe!! They must his favorite.
