    I am a new avid gardener- I have spent almost two years studying and planting and being a regular garden geek... It's embarrassing. I feel the most happy in the garden, with plants. I live in Dallas, in the city; things are so different since I caught the gardening bug- lets see where it leads me!

    Succulents, succulents, alpines, cactus, and my stag-horn fern.
  • What is a garden myth you hear frequently which you know is untrue?
    "Throw a couple ice-cubes in that pot when it feels dry, and you'll never have to worry...."
  • And, what is the reality?
    I get so passionate about explaining the importance of a deep healthy root system; which couldn't possibly develop with a little shallow diet of ice-cubes.
  • What is your favorite gardening outfit or costume?
    my hole-y jeans, an old toolbelt, and my knee pads... wife-beater optional. I love surprising my friends and neighbors.
  • What is the one question about gardening you would really like people to ask you?
    How can I make "this plant" do better at my house?
  • And what's the answer?
    Treat it like it's alive, and learn how to care for it by learning about it's family, and it's origin... you'll feel more closely connected to the plant; and it will add an element of pride to your life which was missing before you began to care.

    watching the plants grow.

    This rock garden in the middle of uptown dallas, it has the most incredible bog and alpine collection I have ever seen.
