  • What is a garden myth you hear frequently which you know is untrue?
    A bad idea and usually untrue myth is to put moth balls out in the garden to ward off pests.
  • And, what is the reality?
    Mothballs are dangerous to use in a vegetable garden and in any garden they are bad for the environment!
  • What is the one question about gardening you would really like people to ask you?
    What should I plant that the deer may be less likely to eat?
  • And what's the answer?
    Anything fuzzy, silver colored, or medicinal and poisonous. There are many plants on my list! I live in the middle of deer country.
  • If you could grow only one plant, what would it be?
    Shasta Daisies
  • What plant have you tried to grow that has given you the most trouble? Or, what plant would you like to grow and can't, and why?
    Red Twig Dogwoods. Where I want them to grow has terrible soil and rocks and not enough sun.

    Evening

    Purples

    My mother, who was an artist. She just know how to blend color and texture. And if something didn't work, she had the courage to yank it right out!

    Deer, high humidity (mildews), not enough sun.
  • What do you dislike most about gardening?
    The disgusting bugs (like hornworms and japanese beetles. I also dislike working in the high heat and humidity!

    Ummm, everything else. Even weeding!
