born in coeur d'alene, lived off the land when very young for two years with parents, know how to fish, hunt, play tennis, golf, sang in church choir and played at the clarinet for 7 years in school. Love renovating projects in old homes. Have experience in auto body too! Not bad for a girl, huh??

What is a garden myth you hear frequently which you know is untrue?
"marigolds ward off insect especially earwigs"
earwigs have been snacking on my marigolds since the first time I have sowed marigolds in the ground -

What is your favorite gardening outfit or costume?
husband's old dockers, one of his old long sleeve shirts with sleeves rolled up.they always look new and it bothers me to see waste, he says i'm cute in them. a pr of suspendors though, his pants at too big for me. -

depends what they ask. people ask me questions all the time, i don't have an idea where to start to remember their questions -
Who is your own favorite gardening personality on TV, radio or in print? Why?
there are so many, the "lazy gardener", the "frugal gardener", any garden book is fine as long as it's informational and/or has lots of picutres (pictures are the plus, motivates me to plan the nex garden) -
Do you have a gardening philosophy you would like to share with other gardeners? What is it?
learn to save seed. it is rewarding and you never know when the neighbor might run out of a specific seed and ask you for any spares. I like it when we can swap seeds, it's convenient -
If you could grow only one plant, what would it be?
tomatoes -
What plant have you tried to grow that has given you the most trouble? Or, what plant would you like to grow and can't, and why?
blue berries, just don't get enough added to soil to get the right growth from the plant to bear.

dusk, at night, sitting in middle of the lush greenery by beautiful plants, veetable plants flowers (cosmos, black eyed susans, bachelor buttons, marigolds) bordering plant beds, tall green asparagus ferns in the background against the fence line -

green with specks of yellows, orange and reds peeking through -
What is your favorite place or activity in the garden?
planting transplants, sowing seeds. and seeing what i invisioned coming true by the end of the season -

best friend who passed at 95yrs on Easter Sunday 2 years ago. She was frugal and had so much knowledge of the old garden ways. what to plant, when to plant and all the little things about each type of plant. she knew when to save seeds and how to save the seeds. Most beautiful patient person and lived a very simple life without all the contraptions around her. -

sorting out soil to have it be consistant throughout all my garden plots according to what i'm growing in the plt each year and rotating my crops when i tend to companion grow my many varieties of produce -
What do you dislike most about gardening?
the commercialism (society has ruined christmas for me by the commercialism). buy this buy that! all you need in a garden patience, the willingness to get dirty, work hard and a little ingenuity. -

it's a great excuse to play in the dirt and enjoy the rewards all year long. -
