Arctostaphylos glauca- Bigberry Manzanita (the most beautiful manzanita, ever, by far.)

Ipomoea 'Ace of Spades' - 'Ace of Spades' Potato Vine (for pots, of course)

  • What is a garden myth you hear frequently which you know is untrue?
Native gardens are messy and brown.
  • And, what is the reality?
It all depends on the plant materials that are used and how they are designed to compliment each other.
There is a huge variety of native plant material to choose from, many of which are lush and evergreen. It all depends on the garden style you want and how you plan to water and maintain the garden.
  • Who is your own favorite gardening personality on TV, radio or in print? Why?
Jamie Durie!!! Awesome, just the most incredible, lovely, unique, and wonderfully themed gardens. The hardscape and softscape are so seamlessly designed with such a wide of materials...mmmmm. Yummy.
  • If you could grow only one plant, what would it be?
One species? Orchids. I keep killing them and therefor I would never run out of room for more plants and could keep buying new ones (which, lets face it, is really the most enjoyable part of gardening).
  • What plant have you tried to grow that has given you the most trouble? Or, what plant would you like to grow and can't, and why?
see above...I live in a cave with north-east facing windows

Are you kidding? That's like asking for my favorite type of chocolate! Any and all!
Although I do have a bias towards Las Pilitas Nursery in Escondido as I worked there for 5 years and they became my extended family :)
Also, Tree of Life for their awesome selection of natives and Green Thumb in San Marcos for their all around wonderful selection of plant and pottery materials.
