  • My 5 favorite plants are
alstroemeria, pink breath of heaven, mexican bush sage, mexican marigold, buddleja
  • What is your favorite gardening outfit or costume?
Actually, I bought a couple of pairs of scrubs and I put them on when I garden.
  • Who is your own favorite gardening personality on TV, radio or in print? Why?
Well, I have learned a lot from Paul James who has a TV program, Gardening by the Yard.
  • Do you have a gardening philosophy you would like to share with other gardeners? What is it?
Well, having this community thing is a good thing. I want to learn and hopefully this will be a good forum for that.
  • If you could grow only one plant, what would it be?
real tough to choose... how about three? Alstroemeria, pink breath of heaven, buddleja...
gee, I really like my mexican bush sage and mexican marigold too...
  • What plant have you tried to grow that has given you the most trouble? Or, what plant would you like to grow and can't, and why?
again, hard to choose one here. For some reason I had trouble when I transplanted sunflowers from a pot to the garden. I also have had a problem with star jasmines. I have a friend who has one that just took over a wall, but mine don't seem to want to spread out at all.
  • What is your favorite time in the garden?
Sitting in my swing near my fountain and just "taking it all in"
  • What is your favorite color in the garden?
hmmm, I seem to have accumulated a lot of violets (lavender, mexican sage, mauve wallflower, morning glory, alstroemeria, etc.). I also really like the yellows and ambers that come out in the fall, like in mums and my mexican marigold shrubs.
  • What is your favorite place or activity in the garden?
I have some vining plants and I like to sit or stand and kind of weave them through the walls and trellises adjoining them.
  • What individual has influenced your gardening interest the most? How?
    No person, really.
  • What do you dislike most about gardening?
When plants have finished blooming. I still am a relative novice and so I am not sure if I am doing the right thing when I try to do things like pruning, dead-heading, cutting back, etc. I still am learning the jargon.
  • What do you like most about gardening?
Seeing something grow and bloom and flower. Having grown up in the "big city", it is now fun to have some land to "play with".
