That’s Swale at The Garden

Saturday, February 4, 10-11:30am
Onsite at The Garden
See how earthwork applications like swales and basins can slow, spread, and sink water into your landscape with Diane Kennedy of Finch Frolic Garden Permaculture. Sponsored by the County of San Diego. FREE, includes Garden entry.
Before you install plants, rain tanks, and grey water systems, be sure your landscape can handle and harvest as much water as possible - passively. Learn to slow, spread, and sink water through earthwork applications like swales and basins with Diane Kennedy of Finch Frolic Garden Permaculture. Sponsored by the County of San Diego. Free, includes Garden entry.
Finch Frolic Garden Permaculture is the only food forest and habitat garden of its kind open to the public in Southern California. It serves as an educational facility as well as a poison-free refuge for hundreds of species of wildlife, and as a food bank for the owners Diane and Miranda Kennedy. On 1.6 acres, this 10-year-old garden uses permaculture design to grow with limited water and no chemical fertilizers, insecticides or herbicides. Fruit, vegetables, herbs, timber bamboo, ornamentals and lots of native plants work together to form a thriving, useful and regenerative garden community.
