  • What is a garden myth you hear frequently which you know is untrue?
    I seem to kill everything I plant.

    You don't understand the nature of plants and their needs. Read a book on gardening.
  • What is your favorite gardening outfit or costume?
    Shorts and shoes. My wife makes me wear a hat and shirt.

    What works for me.

  • Who is your own favorite gardening personality on TV, radio or in print? Why?
    There is a woman on WPTF 680 AM radio which broadcast from near Raleigh, NC on Saturday mornings. Her name is Ann Clapp and I swear she knows everthing or at least has an answer for everthing.
  • Do you have a gardening philosophy you would like to share with other gardeners? What is it?
    Don't be afraid to try anything as long as your site preparation is excellant and the plant is suited to your geographical area.
  • If you could grow only one plant, what would it be?
    To be able to grow only one plant would be a punishment of sorts when so many plants compliment each other.
  • What plant have you tried to grow that has given you the most trouble? Or, what plant would you like to grow and can't, and why?
    Fruit trees seem to be my bane. They are time consuming and pest attractants.

    Putting in a new plant.
  • What is your favorite color in the garden?
    All colors have a place and time.

    My patio, surrounded by plants that beg for attention.

    If I only had the time and money to visit them all, or just 5 percent.

    Subtly my mother. She was a "yard" person.
