What is a garden myth you hear frequently which you know is untrue?
That roses are hard to grow. -
And, what is the reality?
They are incredibly hardy, you just need to pick a good variety and plant them in the right place. -
What is your favorite gardening outfit or costume?
I am an impulse gardener and don't take the time to change clothes. I've ruined a few good pairs of shoes and jeans that way. -
What is the one question about gardening you would really like people to ask you?
Oh boy, I love helping people re-design their landscapes. I wish friends/family would ask me more often. -

Who is your own favorite gardening personality on TV, radio or in print? Why?
Tom Piergrossi- I haven't caught the show in a long time- still trying to figure out what channel its on at our new house. But I love his ideas, and good advice, and its also fun to see someone I actually know on TV. -
Do you have a gardening philosophy you would like to share with other gardeners? What is it?
Nurture both the seen and unseen. What goes on below the soil surface is just as important. I feed the soil, and the soil feeds the plants. -
If you could grow only one plant, what would it be?
Roses. -
What is your favorite time in the garden?
Early morning with a cup of coffee, and after dark when the frogs start serenading us. -
What is your favorite color in the garden?
White. It makes everything else pop. -
What is your favorite place or activity in the garden?
I enjoy taking the hose out to water the fruit trees on the hill. I can see the whole yard from there, and peek at all my summer fruit forming. -
What do you dislike most about gardening?
Snails and aphids. -
What do you like most about gardening?
The peace and quiet, the wildlife, and the good feeling of making the world more beautiful.
