Should I plant this tree?

Should I plant this tree? was created by Sisko
I have been recommended to plant a 'Silk Tree', 'Albizia julibrissin' on my lawn. If anyone have this tree, I'd appreciate some feedback. I'd like your opinion if this would be a good choice, its growing habits, problems , maintenance etc. If this isn't great tree, what would you recommend instead?
Thanks,

The Albizia or Mimosa is a fast grower but somewhat short lived tree by some standards. I think it is very attractive with cottony like pinkish blooms a good deal of the summer. It attracts hummingbirds. The foliage is fern like. It has long seed pods. It also leafs out in late spring making you wonder if it survived the winter. Most of the ones I've seen, as well as mine, rise about two to three feet before splitting off into two or three main trunks. Draw backs, the blossoms can attract ants, it seeds readily, and if you have deer they will eat on it until it grows out of their reach. Mine is about six years old and has to be 25 to 30 feet already. It has an \"airy\" look, not thick foliage.

Very cool tree, but like said above, it is short-lived. Another problem is that it is kind of fussy when it comes to transplanting them. They're similar to Bougainvilla in that they both don't like their roots disrupted. So, if you do decide to plant one in the lawn (which, in my opinion, is a great idea), be very careful not to disrupt the rootball any more than you have to.
Hope that helps.

Thanks for your advice! After all the comments and talking with many people about it, we ended up planting a Grape Myrtle, 'Tuscarora, in our lawn. It has tiny leaves already and I hardly can wait when it blooms.

Ahhh yes, another good choice. We sell a lot of those here and they are VERY pretty. Ours just started pushing leaves also. Couple weeks and they'll be covered. I love it.
