I am the author of Golden Gate Gardening (Sasquatch Books), a west coast guide to growing vegetables, herbs, fruits, and flowers that centers on the coastal climate of California but is useful inland too. We have a mediterranean climate, which is unique in the U.S. and this guide helps gardeners use it well. I am also the author of Wildly Successful Plants: Northern California, Controlling Vegetable Pests (Environmentally Friendly Gardening series) and Easy Vegetable Gardening Plans, articles for national gardening magazines, and write a monthly gardening column for the San Francisco Chronicle.
