Description | A large stem succulent growing to 50-55 feet high with a gently tapering trunk, similar to a tall candle, up to 1-1/2 feet wide at the base. The trunk has several pencil-like short branches with deciduous leaves. On older trees, the main trunk splits into two or more stems near the top. The cream to yellow tubular flowers bloom from July to August and appear at the tops of the trunks and near the stem tips. |
General Comments | This unusual tree has very small fleshy leaves that drop not long after they form leaving a twiggy spiney trunk behind. |
