  • My 5 favorite plants are
    Perrenials, plants with dual purpose - edible and decorative, plants that the seed is useable, Plants that attract butterflies and bees, variety and dimension. I like to try new things, though I seem to buy petunias every year and panseys.
  • What is a garden myth you hear frequently which you know is untrue?
    Compost attracts rodents. (At least not in my yard)
  • And, what is the reality?
    Compost is made up of decomposing matter. If mixed well with soil or in a composting container, there is no problem.
  • What is your favorite gardening outfit or costume?
    Gardening gloves and a hat, plus blue jeans so you dont have to worry about getting dirty.

    How can I help start a garden, or community garden?

    Find one in your local area. Check with your local cooperative extension and see whats out there. Check at a local farmers market and chambers or park commissions.

  • Do you have a gardening philosophy you would like to share with other gardeners? What is it?
    Teach younger generations about how food grows on plants, and how its used.
  • If you could grow only one plant, what would it be?
  • What plant have you tried to grow that has given you the most trouble? Or, what plant would you like to grow and can't, and why?
    I had a hard time establishing a rose of sharon. Finally got one out of several to take hold. Now its starting seedlings everywhere!
    I also would love a nicer grape arbor. Mine is stunted. I believe from a black walnut tree.

    In the spring when the weeds are still asleep and only few springtime bulbs have begun to bloom. The bush cherry and pear tree are in bloom and the garden seems to be

    I like variety, though I do have a heart garden of reds.

    Picking peas, beans and tomatoes.

    My grandmother, Neighbors who garden. My friends who share their garden secrets with me now.

    Getting plants to get along with each other with space requirements, water and feeding.

    Some years hardly no bug and other years many.

    Weeds,squirrels, and the season seems to be too short.

    Sharing flowers, growing my own food, and sharing with other gardeners.
