General Information
It wasn\'t too long ago that the colorful Crape Myrtle trees so popular in the South weren\'t recommended for the mild coastal Southern California climates because they had bad problems with powdery mildew there and in general did not bloom well. But there are now a number of new modern hybrid Crape Myrtles that are much more vigorous, better foliaged, stronger flowering, and very mildew resistant. Now gardeners all along the Southern California coast can enjoy these beautiful small trees which light up the summer with their bright pink, red, lavender, purple, and white frilly flowers. And if you live just a few miles inland, you\'ll even get nice fall color!
