General Information

Plant Care Instructions By Steve Brigham

In the mild climates of coastal Southern California, apricot trees often do not get enough winter chill to reliably produce fruit. In addition, very warm weather in the winter months can disrupt their winter dormancy, and lead to poor fruit set or premature fruit drop. Rain during bloom time can prevent fruit set as well. To succeed with apricots in this climate, it is important to choose a low-chill variety such as \'Gold Kist\', \'Royal\', \'Autumn Royal\', or \'Early Golden\'.
