Adaptable, fast, easy, dark blue flowered wild lilacs. Reach about 8-12 feet. Evergreen.

Toyon - Heteromeles arbutifolia
What a plant! Dark, evergreen leaves, white summer flowers, and amazing bright red berries in December. One of the most important food plants for migrating birds in Calif. (an aviary on a stick!). Color is intense - will rival a bougainvillea in good years. Supposedly Hollywood was named after this plant. Older specimens can be pruned into trees.

Lemonadeberry is coastal, Sugarbush is for inland applications. Tough, easy, moderate growth rate with dense evergreen foliage. Can be sheared to form a beautiful hedge as well. Big plants - to 10 feet high by 15 feet wide unpruned.

Great narrow screening plant. 4'W by 8-12'H with evergreen leaves to the base - looks like a small birch. Drought tolerant, good sub for bamboo when you want to hide the neighbors and only have 3 feet to do it in!
