Association of Professional Landscape Designers Announces: Annual International Landscape Design Awards Program Winners

(HARRISBURG, Pa.) – The Association of Professional Landscape Designers (APLD) announces its Annual International Landscape Design Awards program winners. Awards are to be presented at the APLD International Design Conference being held June 13 – 17, 2011, in Cleveland, Ohio.

Landscape designs in seven different categories were submitted for this year’s program – residential, non-residential, small garden, show garden, planting design, cost efficient project and specialty project. The criteria used to evaluate submissions included project impact, creativity, technical merit and planting design.

The judging panel was comprised of well known experts in the field including: Robin Templar Williams, APLD, FSGD (Robin Williams and Associates); Helen Billetop (Helen Billetop Garden Design Ltd); Sara Kinbar (GoodGardenIdeas.com); Eric Liskey (Better Homes and Gardens); Julie Moir Messervy (Julie Moir Messervy Design Studio); Mark Gregory (Landform Consultants) and Rosalind Reed, APLD (Rosalind Reed Associates).

The judges awarded 4 Gold Awards and 16 Merit Awards in this year’s competition. Each year, APLD also bestows the coveted title of “Landscape Designer of the Year” to the highest valued entry in this competition. The 2011 APLD International Landscape Designer of the Year is Suzanne Arca, APLD, of Suzanne Arca Design in Albany, California, for her project titled DiPrisco Meadow Garden.
