Some Help with Botanical Names
If you're new to using botanical names there may be a few abbreviations you won't recognize, so here's a guide to help you. A special note - when searching our plant database you'll often see a plant name with a 'spp.' at the end, this means 'all of the species' in that genus. For instance, Salvia spp. means all Salvias. So if you're know your plant is a Salvia, but aren't sure which one, just use Salvia spp. as your reference, it will give you a good general overview of that plant group.
