Favorite Trees for Small Landscapes for the Northeast States
- Seven-son flower - Heptacodium miconioides
Exfoliating bark, often seen as a multi-stemmed tree. Tiny white flowers cover the plant in September and the pink calyces stay on the tree until hard frost.
- Sourwood - Oxydendrum arboreum
Small tree, interesting white flowers that develop into attractive seed pods in the fall. Brilliant fall color. Great in muli-stem form as well as single trunk.
- Sweetbay - Magnolia virginiana
Pretty shape, semi-evergreen depending on winter temps, sweet, fragrant flowers. Native plant for the Northeast.
