Favorite Other Plants in My Garden
Alcea rosea - Hollyhock
Another old fashioned flower from my grandmothers Indiana garden. They reseed and come back each year. They add height and dimension in my garden.

- Clematis spp
I call it the moonflower. So many varieties and they are such fast growers I planted one on a trellis with a red Dortmund rose on one side and a purple clematis vine on the over side. I saw this in Paris and fell in love with the colors.

- Delphinium spp
Hummingbirds and butterflies love them and so do I. Planted in the rose beds they like the sun. I love the blue flowers that contrast with the roses. The flowers bloom on two foot tall spikes. The blooms are semi double and can be multi colored.

Digitalis spp
Stately tall and full of blooms and a spike. Very showy and blooms and a sturdy stem. I plant them in between the roses in slight shade a grand display of bells.

Hydrangea spp
Old Fashioned beauty. A big pom pom of tiny flowerlets. Showiest in late summer and early fall. Great dried flowers These beauties are shade tolerant. I love the ability to change the colors with iron or an old rusty nail. They go from light pink to blue with the iron treatment.

- Pelargonium spp
I have many kinds and I love the diversity of the leaves and flowers. I like the smaller varieties that do not have an invasive nature, but do have some of the larger flowered ones with showy flowers.
