Getting Started

All of our features are free to view. However all of the unique interactive features are reserved for members, including being able to create a list of the plants you own (here's an example), asking questions, posting comments and most importantly using our personalized monthly Plant Care System. There are many other features explained in greater detail in our Getting Started User Guide and in our frequently asked questions (FAQ's) section.

Everything revolves around your member profile page which is referred to in as "My Profile" and the tabs on that page. You can manage all your personal features from "My Profile", so if you ever feel like you're lost, click on a "My Profile" link and you'll be back to your page.

How to Get Started

1. Join - It's Free (if you haven't already).
2. Go to your profile page and click on the different tabs (click My Profile in the top left menu to find your profile). Tell a little about yourself by answering our Gardening Profile Questions.
3. Create your personal plant list and add five plants (at least) to your My Plants list. It's easy to do, just find the plant in our Plant Encyclopedia and click the "ADD" button. You can search by common name or botanical name. Adding the plants you own opens up a whole set of features unique to the Mulch.

Once you've joined and added a few plants you're well on your way. You're now automatically connected to anyone else in the community that has the same plant, you can keep private gardening notes about your garden, you can create lists of all your plants, create wish lists, have fun and tell people what's in your Plant Cemetary, your forum discussions, your photos, private messages and much more!

It's Simple as 1-2-3: Be a Member of the Mulch - join (it's Free). Tell us three plants you'd like monthly care reminders for - we'll do the rest! It sounds too good to be true, but it's not.

We've lured Steve Brigham out of retirement to personally create monthly plant care reminders for you and your garden. One catch, we're starting in California (If this works out we'll be expanding). Steve has an incredible amount of experience and now he'll be creating gardening to-do reminders each month for theMulch members.

When to buy a plant, fertilize, prune, harvest, transplant and all sorts of other important tasks can be automatically sent to your computer year round. It's easy to do, just tell us what plants you're growing and select the care instructions and the care information will be automatically sent to you for easy on demand access!
